Tim LarsonTim Larson has more than 20 years of experience working with diverse clients—government agencies, philanthropy, NGOs, international organizations, and the private sector—to address complex environmental and social issues. Tim helps clients approach complex challenges from a multi-disciplinary approach that blends strong expertise in business process improvement; strategy and portfolio development; policy and program development; measurement, learning, and evaluation; strategic communications; and group facilitation and collaborative process support. Tim has substantive expertise in diverse areas including air quality management, climate change, clean energy and energy efficiency, land conservation, water sustainability, large aquatic ecosystem protection and restoration, corporate environmental management, transportation, community economic development, and impact investing.

Tim’s recent work at Ross Strategic has focused on working with foundations and funder collaboratives to connect measurement, evaluation, and learning systems with strategy to accelerate and deepen impact in areas such as climate change mitigation, clean energy, climate resilience, water sustainability, and land conservation. Tim has also worked with government and philanthropy to develop strong grantee peer exchange networks that accelerate learning and strategy and program implementation, and to build cross-sector partnerships. He is also working with many organizations to develop strategies (and strategic plans) that are well integrated into the organization in ways that deepen impact while enabling learning and adaptation. Over the past few years, Tim has worked for diverse clients including the World Bank, the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Ford Foundation, the Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation, the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, the McKnight Foundation, the Kresge Foundation, the ClimateWorks Foundation, the Energy Foundation, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, and the United Nations International Labor Organization.

Prior to joining Ross Strategic, Tim worked as a consultant with more than thirty companies in the energy, oil and gas, consumer products, manufacturing, transportation, and pharmaceutical sectors to develop and implement environmental management systems and sustainability initiatives. He has worked on environmental and social issues in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Africa, China, India, and Brazil. Tim has a graduate degree in environmental policy and urban and regional planning from the School for Public and International Affairs at Princeton University and an undergraduate degree in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania. Tim opened Ross Strategic’s office in Austin, Texas in 2014, and he has enjoyed exploring Texas’ unique landscape, great music, and tasty BBQ with his wife and daughters.
