Casey Hart
Research Associate
Casey joined Ross in April 2022 and brings a background of watershed restoration experience. She uses research, communication, and analytical skills to work on environmental projects. She is passionate about understanding ecological, social, and economic intersections to help address environmental challenges with a holistic perspective.
Before joining Ross, Casey served as an AmeriCorps member with Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group. She had positions as a Washington Conservation Corps crew member and then a Riparian Restoration Associate. These roles allowed Casey to work on a variety of restoration projects in the Skagit watershed, lead volunteer and education events, conduct salmon spawning surveys, and manage a native plant nursery.
Casey graduated from Gonzaga University with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Biology and Environmental Studies, along with a minor in Sustainable Business. At Gonzaga she conducted undergraduate research to determine the best reduction method of the invasive wetland plant Phragmites australis and understand lead contamination in wood ducks. She also participated in School for Field Studies where she researched effects of land use on biodiversity in Panama, resulting in a publication in The International Journal of Protected Areas and Conservation.
Outside of work, Casey loves hiking, rock climbing, cooking, and photography. She aspires to spend more time SCUBA diving and it is her dream to one day dive with a whale shark.
